Durrant is currently in the Private Companies team, having joined Baillie Gifford in 2017. He previously worked for RBS in their Group Strategy and Corporate Finance team. He is also a chartered accountant and a CFA charterholder.
He joins co-managers Andrew Stobar and Mike Gush.
The Emerging Markets Growth fund has outperformed its benchmark, the MSCI Emerging Markets index, since inception in January 2001. It has returned 916.07%, while the benchmark returned 609.01%, according to data from FE fundinfo.
Durrant will join Roderick Snell on the Pacific Horizon trust.
Snell, the former deputy manager of trust since 2013, has become lead portfolio manager following the departure of Ewan Markson-Brown, who is joining Crux Asset Management.
The trust, which is trading on a 6.8% premium, has seen its share price return 422.5% over ten years compared to the Asia Pacific AIC sector, which has returned 201.9%, according to data from the AIC.
